Fall-law-less Skin

Crisp, cool air, leafless trees, scarves and boots, rich and bold hues of makeup, football (oh yeah!!!) and of course new skin care routine, that folks are what encompasses Autumn/Winter Season :)

During the summer months, our skin care revolved around SPF, light-weight/sheer coverage and oil control. Transitioning from Spring/Summer to Fall/Winter weather, it's time to think about keeping your skin soft, moisturized and well protected from the cold (blistering for some) winds, indoor/car heater and fire place heat. All these can be drying to the skin and has the propensity to leave skin sallow and dull and a perfect primer for fine lines.
Regardless of what your skin type may be, these elements can take a toll on our skin. Oily skin usually produces more oil from dryness and blistering cold wind and Dry and Sensitive skin becomes tighter, drier and even scaly in some cases.
Your skin needs  to adapt with the season's changes to keep it looking healthy and supple.
That being said, here are some suggestions to try in transitioning your Summer skin into Fall-law-less skin ;)

Exfoliate: From my summer routine, I have mentioned exfoliation quiet a few times specially when you are loading up on spf, summer makeup, sweat, oil buildup on your face. I would still exfoliate just changing it up a bit with a more gentler scrub like Kate Somerville's ExfoliKate once a week to get that smooth fresh skin. Aveeno's Skin Brightening Gentle scrub is also a good alternative.
Available at Sephora $22

Local Drugstore $8

Gentle Cleanse:  Out with the gel cleanser and in with a more emollient solution that removes dirt but won't strip skin's natural oils. I love my Philosophy's Purity Face wash for my combination skin on a regular day, it's not too rich and it cleanse all my makeup  and dirt with one wash....BUT I am just as in love with Eve Lom's cleansing balm for the days when I have on a heavy makeup, this cleanser is definitely one of my holy grail for cleansers because not only does it cleanse, it also tones and exfoliates and it also comes with a pretty hefty price tag of $50.00 at Sephora (hence it's sparingly used lol)
Sephora $22
Sephora $80 (3.3 oz)

Hydrate and Moisturize: With dryness of Fall, go for moisturizers that are creamier in consistency that won't clog pores specially for sensitive skin. I have a love/hate relationship with my La Mer Moisturizing Cream, I have to use it sparingly because it had broken me out when I've used it on a daily basis, so usually I use that when my skin is super dry and swap it back and forth with Ole Henriksen's Truth serum and Sheer Transformation or go for the good o'l Nature's Bounty Vit-E oil with an all around hydrating, moisturizing and anti-aging properties and best part....inexpensive!! Lastly, continue using your SPF.

Nordstrom $155 (1 oz)

Local Drugstore $7

Autumn Mask:  Yes mask is also a mainstay year round. Specially with a drier skin, you will need to replenish the moisture and that were depleted in the summer's heat, try incorporating essential oils, seaweed, vitamins as well as aloe vera on your skin as a prep before applying your mask. Clay mask is best for oily/combination skin and cream/mud masks are best for dry/sensitive skin.

Eye Cream
It is important to have a cream specifically formulated for that delicate area under your eyes as it is the thinnest skin area of your face. I love using Lancome's Genefique eye cream at night and Caudalie Premier Cru for the datytime.

Bonus Tips:
** Hot water may feel ahhhhmazing during the cold fall/winter season but hot water actually depletes moisture out of your skin, leaving it dry and scaly so turn your water temp a tad bit ;)
**Invest in a humidifier to dispense moisture back in the air and help your body stay hydrated while you sleep.
**Switch to a cream based body wash from the summer's gel/clearing bodywash.
